13.298 million people in Uzbekistan were employed as of the end of 2016, which is by 1.8% more compared to 2015, a statement of the Statistics Committee said.
17.7% (in 2015 - 17.9%) were employed in the public sector, 82.3% (82.1%) - in the private sector. Of these 78.1% (77.9%) were employed by SMEs.
In terms of sectors, the share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries amounted to 27.7%, industry - 13.6%, trade - 10.9%, construction - 9.5%, education - 8.3%.
The unemployment rate remained unchanged compared to the previous year - 5.2%.
