Ezgulik Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan received the international French prize Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. This was reported on December 4 by the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights of France (CNCDH).

This award was established in 1988 on the initiative of the CNCDH. The purpose of the award is to recognize the key role of civil society in the promotion and protection of human rights around the world.

The award is presented annually to five laureates around the world, each of whom receives a cash reward of 14 thousand euros. The theme of the award this year was related to the protection of the human rights of civilians in any situation related to armed conflict.

This year, among the winners, in addition to Ezgulik, are the Mandella Center from Cameroon, the Citizens organization from Haiti, the Ludirlena PÉREZ CARVAJAL organization from Colombia and the Syrian organization Caesar.

The award ceremony will take place in Paris on December 10, Human Rights Day. The award will be presented to the Chairman of the Ezgulik Society, Abdurakhmon Tashanov, personally by the Prime Minister of France.

The Ezgulik Society was founded in 2002. It is the only independent human rights organization registered in Uzbekistan. The project that received the award is aimed at informing the civilian population about the danger of forced recruitment of Uzbek labor migrants and prisoners in Russia to participate in armed conflicts.

The main mission of the organization is to protect human rights and their interests, as well as to collect, analyze and disseminate information in the field of human rights.
