President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the measures to commence the implementation of Electrification Of Karshi-Kitab Rail Section Project with the launch of high-speed passenger trains.
The US$58.87 million estimated cost project will be implemented in 2017-2018. Uzbekistan Railways will provide US$18.58 million of its own funds for the project, with Uzbekenergo to invest US$7.31 million.
About US$14.06 million will be provided through centralized investments. Uzbekistan Reconstruction and Development Fund will lend US$18.92 million to Uzbekistan Railways to finance the project.
Designing and construction of external power supply facilities for the project will be financed by UzbekEnergo.
