Uzbekistan’s state-run electricity provider UzbekEnergo and South Korea’s state-run utility provider Korea Electric Power Corp. today signed MoU for Joint Development of Electric Business Solutions, UzbekEnergo said.

KEPCO will, inter alia, aim to export the company’s renewable energy technology to Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan’s utility provider expressed hopes to cooperate with KEPCO in developing electricity infrastructure, a KEPCO official said.

"The Memorandum provides for cooperation in virtually all areas of the energy sector, from production and generation of electricity to its delivery to end users," said Shoyusuf Usmanov, head of the department for foreign economic relations and investment of UzbekEnergo.

KEPCO President Cho Hwan-eik noted: "We have plans to send our specialists to Uzbekistan, they will get acquainted with the state of affairs in the field of energy, equipment, and will make diagnostics. Our Uzbek colleagues will also come to Korea to exchange experience and get familiar with the technologies and capacities of KEPCO."
