7th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Latvia intergovernmental commission for economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation and business forum is being held in Riga on August 28-30.

During the business forum the sides agreed to open a trading house between the Latvian De Fonte Group and UzTrade company within the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the ministry said.

De Fonte Group was founded in 2008 and has eight enterprises specializing in textiles, engineering and information technologies. The company has opened Latvia business center in Tashkent, which advises entrepreneurs on doing business in Uzbekistan and European countries. In 2017 the company launched De Fonte Electric Car company in Chirchik for production of electric cartings, electric bicycles, electric scooters and electric quadrocycles.

It was noted that Uzbekistan can ensure the supply of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable, electrical, chemical products, textiles, highly effective mineral fertilizers, cars and trucks and other goods to Latvia.

Within the framework of the visit, UzTrade concluded accords for supply of some $10 million worth of textile, fruit and vegetable and other Uzbek products to Latvia.

In addition, UzTrade signed an agreement with Latvian partners on arranging of logistics for Uzbek goods to the European markets. To do this, the warehouse complex in the city of Liepaja - a transport hub with a developed port infrastructure will be used.
