Uzbekistan-Tatarstan business forum held in Tashkent yesterday saw the signing of cooperation agreements in trade, health, tourism and information technologies.
About 50 economic-forming firms strong Tatarstan delegation arrived in Tashkent to take part in the forum. The delegation was led by the president of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
Welcoming the guests, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Gulomzhon Ibragimov announced plans to increase the bilateral trade with Tatarstan by 2-3 times.
"The priority areas for implementation of projects is electrical, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, textile, leather and footwear industries, machine building and processing of agricultural products," he said.
"The level of our ties does not match our capabilities," Rustam Minnikhanov said. "We are interested in expanding the supply of our vehicles, compressor, petrochemical, refrigeration and medical equipment, furthering cooperation in the field of public healthcare and petro and gas chemicals."
He added that Tatarstan was considering participation in construction and modernization of Uzbekistan’s electricity and hydropower facilities.
Gulomzhon Ibragimov and Rustam Minnikhanov oversaw the signing of Cooperation Agreement between the health ministries of Uzbekistan and Tatarstan on the project for setting up a simulation training center and Uzbek-Tatarstan plant for robotic simulators manufacturing.
Cooperation Agreement was also entered into between the tourist authorities of the two countries. The IT Development Ministry of Uzbekistan and the Informatization and Communications Ministry of Tatarstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. UzPharmSanoat and Sergo plant signed a Memorandum of Intentions.
