The Minister of Finance Batyr Khodjaev has been appointed as Minister of Economy taking over from Galina Saidova, who held various posts in the Ministry of Economy since 2002. In 2010-2011, she was in charge of the Ministry of foreign economic relations, investments and trade and was the Minister of Economy since 2011.
The newly appointed Minister of Economy Batyr Khodjaev was born in 1956 in Tashkent. In 1979 he graduated from the Tashkent institute of railway transport engineers. In 2006-2009 he was the Minister of Economy, in 2009-2011 he was Deputy Prime Minister - Chairman of the Committee for architecture and construction, since November 2011 - First deputy minister of economy for macroeconomic parameters, financial and currency balance and national investment programs. In December 2016 he was appointed Minister of Finance to replace Rustam Azimov.
Jamshid Kuchkarov, deputy prime minister, head of the complex for macroeconomic development, structural changes and attraction of foreign investments has been appointed new Minister of Finance.
