The Uzbekistan Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources (GeoComm) and the Turkey’s Geological Authority (MTA), signed the agreement on geological exploration for gold and tungsten in three sites, the Committee said.

The parties will prepare consolidated feasibility analysis for geological exploration and pilot production at the Sarytau, Khurob and Aidym-Djetimtau sites to identify the promising tungsten and gold deposits in the Navoi and Jizzakh provinces.

The MTA has set up the project operator MTA Tashkent Mining to implement the agreement. According to the GeoComm, this year the MTA will contribute US$ 2 million for exploration.

Aerogeophysical surveys, remote sensing, drilling and office work will be performed within the three project sites. Subject to the results being positive of the project first stage, the parties will develop and approve the program and budget for the next stages.

Earlier in October 2018, the Turkish Tasyapi and GeoComm signed an agreement on development of two gold deposits in Samarkand province. The Turkish firm was to conduct certification drilling operations at the facilities, perform tests for the development of process scheme, as well as develop the project’s preliminary feasibility study for the development of deposits before March.
