The project - Uzbekistan Peugeot Citroёn Automotive (UzPCA) automobile plant has been officially closed, Uzautosanoat said.

In May 2017, a JV agreement for the production of light commercial vehicles was signed between Uzautosanoat and the French Peugeot Citroёn. In July of the same year, a capsule laying ceremony was held in Jizzakh Free Economic Zone.

The plant was scheduled to be launched on December 10, 2018. But on December 18, Uzavtosanoat announced that, together with PSA Groupe, had been reviewing the plant’s project “due to unforeseen changes in the source data”.

In February 2019, the deputy chairman of Uzavtosanoat, Azizbek Shukurov, stated that the facilities of Uzbekistan Peugeot Citroёn Automotive plant were nearly ready, save for technological material.

As reported earlier, Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen Group Rus signed an agreement on manufacturing of Caddy light commercial vehicles based at Jizzakh Automobile Plant, with 20 thousand cars per year capacity.

“The French Peugeot Citroёn did not contribute any funds for the construction of the plant. The Peugeot Citroën project is closed,” the company concluded.
