The Government of Uzbekistan and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing for the participation of KFAED in the financing of social projects in Uzbekistan totaling US $ 60 million over the coming years.

The document was signed on February 8 in Kuwait city following the meeting between the Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry press service said.

In addition, the sides signed intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education and research, as well as an agreement on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports.

In the framework of the first round of political consultations the foreign ministries exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral and international issues.

The Ministers confirmed their readiness to expand cooperation between the foreign ministries and to hold regular consultations to identify ways of advancing of Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations in various areas, especially in trade, investment and implementation of joint projects.
