The construction of two 450 MW combined cycle power plants (CCPP) are to be completed at Talimarjan thermal power plant in Kashkadarya province.
The gas turbine of the first unit of CCPP was launched for the 25th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence - in August 2016. Later, in November, the first unit was launched in the combined cycle.
The commissioning and testing works of the second unit of CCPP in the combined cycle have now been completed. This has enabled to bring the capacity of the two units to 800 MW.
Next, the optimization of the equipment and acceptance tests will be carried out with bringing the the equipment to design capacity.
After all works, the total capacity of the plant will reach 1,700 MW. Completion is scheduled for March, after which the units will be handed over to UzbekEnergo for operation.
Works are being performed by the consortium of Hyundai and Daewoo for credit funds of the Asian Development Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In the future it is planned to erect another two similar CCPPs, and thus to some extent satisfy the growing needs of the economy and population for electricity.
In November 2004 at Talimarjan TPP was put into operation the first 800 MW capacity power unit, which is the most powerful in all of Central Asia.
