President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will today attend the opening ceremony of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant in Tashkent’s newly formed Yangikhayot district, the presidential press service said.
The metallurgy giant is of great importance for the Uzbek economy, since the ferrous metallurgy in our country is very poorly developed. The new enterprise will produce 500 thousand tons of zinc and polymer coated metal sheets per year, with most demand for these products met by imports.
The enterprise is expected to export US$ 90 million worth of goods a year, and will create 700 jobs, with in general, 5,000 jobs to be created including the related industries,.
The plant construction project began in February 2017. US$ 420 million was spent on its construction.
After the opening ceremony, the President will get familiar with the production processes at the enterprise.
