In 2020, Uzbekistan exported US$ 459.3 million worth of ready-made garments which is by 30% more than in 2019, the State Statistics Committee said.

Last year, the top export destinations of Uzbekistan ready-made garments:

  • Russia - US$ 247.2 million;
  • Kyrgyzstan - US$ 170.6 million;
  • Kazakhstan - US$ 17.5 million;
  • Ukraine - US$ 4.9 million;
  • Tajikistan - US$ 4.8 million;
  • Moldova - US$ 2.6 million;
  • Belarus - US$ 2.3 million;
  • Italy - US$ 2 million.

Andijan (US$ 143.6 million) Tashkent (US$ 102.7 million) provinces and the Tashkent city (US$ 55.6 million) were the top exporting territories.

In total Uzbekistan exported US$ 1.9 billion worth of textiles to 70 foreign countries.

Compared to 2019, the volume of textile exports increased by US$ 295.3 million.

In 2020, the largest share of Uzbek textiles was exported to Russia (US$ 655.5 million), China (US$ 438.2), Kyrgyzstan (US$ 283.9) and Turkey (US$ 206.1).

In turn, Uzbekistan's cotton fiber exports in 2020 decreased by 65.35% to US$ 78.87 million. The decrease in exports was explained by the planned production and export of high value-added textiles from raw cotton.

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov said in an interview with Japan's Nikkei Asian Review in 2019 that he would stop exporting cotton fiber. He said that by 2025, Uzbekistan plans to export US$ 8 billion worth of textiles a year.
