The Central Bank of Uzbekistan announced on Saturday it made a decision to issue new 5,000- and 10,000-soum banknotes from August 26, 2021.
According to the press service of the CB, the theme of these banknotes is dedicated to the “Great Silk Road” and the history of the ancient cities of Samarkand and Tashkent. The banknotes are printed on security paper.
“The new banknotes will circulate along with the current banknotes of 5,000 soums of the 2013 design and 10,000 soums of the 2017 design. New banknotes, along with banknotes and coins in circulation, are to be accepted at face value for all types of payments by all business entities and individuals without any restrictions, ”the Central Bank concluded.
