The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of his Samarkand province trip visited Koshrabad district on Friday, UzA reported.

During the meeting with locals of Oqtepa village was held a presentation of projects of creating of walnut and vine plantations in the mountaneous areas in 2017-2018, the organization of animal farming in 2017-2021, as well as project aimed at improving the drinking water supply to the residents of the district.

Some 4211 farms will be established in the foothills of Jambay, Ishtykhan, Kattakurgan, Pastdargom, Paiarik, Samarkand, Urgut and Koshrabad districts in the coming two years. It is foreseen to lay walnut plantations on 5700 hectares and vineyards on 13 thousand hectares. In 2017 only it is planned to create walnut plantations on 2500 hectares, vineyards on 6600 hectares.

Some 271 billion soums and 8.4 million dollars are to be allocted to implement these projects. This will allow to increase exports by some 15,000 tons of nuts and 50,000 tons of grapes per year, with over 26 thousand new jobs to be created. One of these walnut plantations will be laid at Oqtepa Unumdor Zamin farm. The President, together with aksakals, planted a walnut tree here.

Like all provinces of the country, Samarkand has a huge untapped potential, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. In cooperation with the development funds of OPEC and Saudi Arabia, in 2016-2018 it is planned to implement a project to improve the drinking water supply in Koshrabad district worth US$ 36.4 million. 49 water intake facilities will be built, 6 will be reconstructed, main water pipelines and networks with a length of 408.1 km will be laid in 77 villages .

In addition, drilling and reconstruction of 110 water wells, fencing of water structures of 16.1 km length, installation of 164 pumps, construction of 14 automated pumping stations, 55 units of electrical transformers, installation of 3 solar and 52 diesel generators, laying of 24.5 km of external power supply networks is planned.

The Head of state noted the need to cultivate fruit trees, exports of fruits, develop animal farming and provide loans to households.

The presentation of projects of a wool processing factory was also held here, and modern greenhouse complexes in Samarkand and Akdarya districts to be built in 2017.
