The stone laying ceremony for the Chirchik chemical-industrial technopark took place today in the Tashkent province, which was attended by the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and the visiting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the press service of the President of Tatarstan said. The technopark is being created in cooperation with the Kazan’s Khimgrad Technopolis.

At the ceremony the PM Aripov said that the fact that the launch of the technopark project takes place during the celebration of Navruz symbolizes the revival and a new stage in the development of bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Russia, being an example of cooperation with Tatarstan.

He added that in the coming years, more than 100 types of products important for the Uzbek economy will be produced in the technopark, it is planned to create at least 2,200 jobs. “Partners not only from Russia, but also from China, India, South Korea and other countries are interested in the technopark. The technopark is open to everyone,” he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov announced that the first residents of the technopark were the Tatarstan companies the plastics production unit VR-Plast, plant protection products unit Biovatik, and Natural Health, the manufacturer of biologically active additives.

The ceremony ended with the signing of a road map to expand cooperation between the Tashkent mayor’s office and the government of Tatarstan for 2022-2023. Abdulla Aripov and Rustam Minnikhanov oversaw the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Chirchik mayor’s office and the Nizhnekamsk municipal district of Tatarstan.

Before the ceremony, the parties discussed issues of economic cooperation between the provinces of Uzbekistan and Tatarstan. Among the main issues were the supply of KAMAZ trucks and supply of conventional and electric buses, the sale of a wide range of Nizhnekamskshina tire products and the expansion of the network of Tatneft gas filling stations in Uzbekistan.

Preparations for the creation of an industrial park in Chirchik began in 2018, according to the press service of the President of Tatarstan. The decision was approved in 2021 during a visit to Uzbekistan by Rustam Minnikhanov. In February of this year, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree on the creation of a technology park on the territory of the research and production association for the production of rare metals and hard alloys of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine and the workshop for the production of metallic sodium at the Maksam-Chirchik enterprise on an area of ​​31.24 hectares.
