The value added tax (VAT) rate will be cut from 15 to 12 percent in Uzbekistan from January 1, 2023. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today during an open dialogue with business leaders.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored that one of the most problematic issues for SMEs was the calculation and refund of VAT.

During the open dialogue with business leaders in 2021, he president promised to continue the course of easing the tax burden on businesses and further reduce the VAT.

“We have to be honest, some people suggested, ‘the economy hasn’t recovered from the pandemic yet, the global economy is not growing, so let’s put that aside for later.’” But I want to assure you: we will never deviate from the path of reforms and from January 1, 2023 we will reduce the value added tax rate to 12 percent,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In 2020, the value added tax rate was reduced from 20 to 15 percent.
