The public transport system of Namangan and Nukus will be improved in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

According to the Ministry of Transport, a large-scale project is being launched in cooperation with the EBRD to fully provide cities and districts of the country with eсo-friendly public transport, in particular, to improve the public transport system of Namangan and Nukus and create convenient passenger transportation services for the population.

The project, financed by the EBRD, envisages the modernization of the public transport system in accordance with international requirements. The project includes the purchase of modern rolling stock and the creation of an electric bus fleet. The British company Atkins will develop the feasibility study for the project.

The working group, headed by the Bank's representative in the Asian region, Nadezhda Klyuchnikova, discussed the practical steps of the project at a meeting with the mayor of Namangan, Anvarjon Otakhojaev.
