The Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov hosted the Director General of China Railway, Xuede Sun and the Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Department of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, Jin Xing.
The parties discussed the progress of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project and touched upon the pending issues therewith.
The Minister Makhkamov proposed considering hiring the Uzbek subcontractors for the project, using Uzbek raw materials and manufacturing resources.
Uzbekistan minister also suggested granting exporter status to the Kashgar railway station to boost freight volumes and develop transport along the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan route.
In addition, during the talks with China’s Minister of Transport Liu Wei, the parties explored the ways to advance the railway project, to develop the China–Europe multimodal transport corridor, and switching to an electronic system for exchanging road transport permit forms between the two countries.
