Spill of oil-containing fluid has occurred at the 25 Years of Independence gas field in Surkhandarya province - one of the country’s largest oil fields - in Boysun district, where oil-containing fluid surfaced.
Authorities say the situation is under constant monitoring, and that the spill has been contained.
Collected fluid is being transported to a special facility with two isolated sludge pools, each with a 5,000 cubic meter capacity.
The Energy Ministry added that analytical tests of the fluid were underway. Findings will tell on processing possibilities, while geological studies at the field are ongoing.
