During the first ten days of July, several schools across the Navoiy, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya provinces gathered school-aged children and kindergarteners for outdoor activities.
In response, the Children's Ombudsman issued an official statement regarding the safeguarding of children's health in preschools and schools during extreme summer heat waves. The Ombudsman emphasized that such practices directly endanger children’s well-being and violate established safety standards, calling for a strict limit on involving children in outdoor events during intense heat. Furthermore, the statement noted that appropriate disciplinary action must be taken against the officials responsible for exposing children to high temperatures and direct sunlight, adding that preventative measures must be strictly enforced to prevent future incidents.
Meanwhile, the Kashkadarya Province Department of Preschool and School Education responded to reports circulating on social media about the "Urgent 90 Days" campaign events being held in open, unshaded areas during an anomalous heat wave. The department clarified that the shared photos and videos were not from recent days, but were captured during an event in the Dehqonobod district on July 8.
According to officials, directives have now been sent to all provincial branches mandating that Shock-Working 90 Days events be held in cool, indoor venues to ensure that student health and safety remain the top priority during extreme heat waves. The department also criticized certain social media pages for publishing the footage without first verifying the facts with official sources.
