The president signed the Improving Measures for the Prevention, Early Detection, and Treatment of Cancer decree.
According to the decree, the primary objectives in the fight against oncological diseases are established as follows:
- Increasing the coverage rate of targeted medical screenings among the population to at least 60% for the most common cancers (cervical, breast, colorectal, stomach, prostate, and lung).
- Raising the detection rate of the most common cancers at stages 1 and 2 from 30% to 40%.
- Reducing the detection rate of the most common cancers at stages 3 and 4 from 65% to 55%.
Beginning January 1, 2027, measures for the early detection and prevention of stomach, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancers will be rolled out progressively across the regions. These initiatives will be guided by the National Cancer Control Program, developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization and international experts.
The priority tasks of the program are defined as:
- Raising public awareness regarding cancer risk factors, early warning signs, and prevention methods.
- Enhancing the overarching system for cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Improving the quality of medical care and reducing mortality rates.
