President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer,  the presidential press service said. At the beginning of the meeting, the chief of the American agency conveyed greetings to Shavkat Mirziyoyev from U.S. President Donald Trump.

The meeting focused on strengthening trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and the United States, including the outcomes of a round table held with American business leaders during the recent Tashkent International Investment Forum. Both parties noted a surge in business contacts, alongside growth in mutual trade and investment.

"Particular attention was paid to cooperation regarding our country’s accession to the WTO, and the American side's continued support for these processes," the official statement read.

The parties also highlighted the importance of the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council, launched in April 2026, in driving new projects forward.

In December 2024, Uzbekistan and the United States signed a protocol marking the conclusion of bilateral negotiations on the country's accession to the World Trade Organization, following 14 months of talks. During a meeting with the president in May, it was reaffirmed that Uzbekistan still intends to join the WTO in 2026. As of early this year, Uzbekistan had completed negotiations with 33 out of 34 members of the organization.
