A museum and memorial complex will be built in Yakkabog district, Kashkadarya province - the birthplace of Amir Temur (Tamerlane), one of the most prominent statesmen in Central Asian history — in his honor.
According to the district administration, the director of the Academy of Sciences' State Museum of Temurid History, historian Khurshid Fayziev, along with a group of other specialists, inspected the proposed construction site on August 7 and discussed the project's concept, architectural design and implementation mechanisms.
Under the plan, a statue of Amir Temur will stand at the center of the complex, surrounded by a museum, a library, a madrasa, a hotel, craft and jewelry shops, a national cuisine venue, recreational parks, fountains, and a main entrance arch built in a historical architectural style.
The delegation that traveled from Tashkent to Yakkabog included director of the State Museum of Temurid History Khurshid Fayziev; chief of a department at the same museum Tulkin Hayit; Temurid-era historian, writer and journalist Hakim Sattoriy; professor and head of the History Department at Tashkent Kimyo International University Akbar Zamonov; professor at Fergana State University Bahriddin Usmonov; adviser to the Minister of Economy and Finance Obiddin Mahmudov; and deputy head of a department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance Azamat Jabborov.
Officials said the planned complex is intended to become a historical, educational and tourist destination for local residents as well as domestic and foreign visitors, aimed at promoting national heritage, fostering patriotic values among young people, and boosting Yakkabog district's appeal as a tourist destination.
