The authorities of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed a Preferential Trade Treaty, as well as a bilateral Cooperation Program in Trade, Economic and Industrial Areas for 2025-2026, the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan said.

The accords were signed on Wednesday following the talks between Minister Laziz Kudratov and the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nooruddin Azizi on the sidelines of the IV Tashkent International Investment Forum.

According to the official statistics, the trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan increased by 1.3 times in 2024, reaching $1.134 billion, and with Uzbekistan exports standing at $1.09 billion. The parties vowed to bring the two-way trade to $2 billion in 2025.

Last year, on October 1, an agreement on preferences took effect, with import duties for 14 item groups abolished.
