The United States and Uzbekistan today marked the restoration of the Sherdor façade at Samarkand’s Registan Square. The project, which is being implemented between 2025 and 2028, is supported by a grant of US$500,000 from the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) — the largest AFCP award ever granted in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan will contribute 10 billion soums annually to support independent theaters and studio theaters. This initiative is part of a presidential decree signed on June 2, outlines measures to develop the fields of culture, art, and literature.

The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg is set to open an international exhibition dedicated to the court culture and art of the Emirate of Bukhara on June 5 of this year. The exhibition will showcase 67 rare artifacts sourced from Uzbekistan’s national museums and the Hermitage’s own collections.

On May 5, 2026, the Romanian vocal ensemble Jazzappella will take the stage in Tashkent. This unique group-project reimagines jazz, pop, and folk music through the lens of “a cappella at its finest.”

Uzbekistan is set to host the International Festival of Fine and Applied Arts from April 20 to 24. The festival’s program promises a vibrant celebration of creativity, featuring exhibitions by both local and international masters, fashion showcases, hands-on workshops, and collaborative creative sessions. This year’s event boasts an impressive global reach, with participants arriving from China, South Korea, Russia, Turkey, France, and beyond.

The tenth International Jazz Festival is set to take place in Tashkent from April 28 to May 12, according to the press service of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan.

On April 1, 2026, the "Akademiya" Gallery of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan hosted the grand opening of a photographic exhibition titled "George Enescu in France." Organized through a partnership between the Embassy of Romania, the Academy of Arts, and the Alliance Française in Tashkent, the exhibition serves as a centerpiece of the Francophonie celebrations currently underway in Uzbekistan.

A Romanian-French poetry evening dedicated to the poet Gherasim Luca took place in Tashkent on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Gherasim Luca was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1914 and died in Paris in 1994. He was one of the central figures of the surrealist movement in Romania, later moving to France.

The Embassy of India supported by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and in collaboration with the Cinematography Agency of Uzbekistan (CAU) is organizing the 2nd edition of the Indian Film Festival ‘Sashakt Nari – Celebrating Womanhood’ from 12–15 March 2026 at Panorama Cinema Palace. The festival will showcase a selection of women-centric Indian films, including Dangal, Dear Zindagi, Tanvi The Great, Tanu Weds Manu, and Kathal celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of women through cinema.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Embassy of India with the support of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and National Film Development Corporation of India, and in cooperation with the Cinematography Agency of Uzbekistan, is organizing the 2nd edition of women-centric Indian Film Festival ‘Sashakt Nari-Celebrating Womanhood’ from March 13-15, 2026 showcasing popular Indian films with women in lead roles overcoming challenges and adversities through courage and resilience. Film screenings will be held at the Palace of National Cinematic Art (Panorama Cinema Palace), Alisher Navoiy 15, Tashkent.    

Romanian Cinema Days were held in Tashkent on December 22-23, 2025. This event was part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Embassy of Romania in Tashkent is pleased to announce that on November 24, 2025, at 5:00 PM, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the Kamoliddin Behzod Institute of Fine Arts and Design, will host the opening of an exhibition of paintings and installations dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek film “In Pursuit of Spring” (Bahorni quvib), directed by Mr. Ayub Shahobiddinov, has been selected to be screened at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being held in Goa from November 20-28, 2025.

From 7 to 9 November in Tashkent and on 12 November in Termez, the 10th European Film Festival will take place - an event that brings Europe and Uzbekistan together through the language of cinema. This year, the festival marks the 10th anniversary of cultural dialogue between Europe and Uzbekistan.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered his opening address to the 43rd session of the UNESCO's General Conference in Samarkand on Thursday.

The second edition of the international Avant Premiere Film Festival in Central Asia will take place from September 29 to October 5 in four Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan—where audiences will have the opportunity to see films previously unreleased in the region. The program includes festival releases, children's animation, documentaries, and classics of French cinema.

Sublimation Festival 2025 took place on September 12-13 at the Tashkent’s Yunusabad Sports Complex, at the foot of the TV Tower and offered ​​two days of music, discovery, and inspiration in the open air.
