According to the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan's inflation rate for April stood at 0.6% (or 0.5% under the new calculation methodology).
Food prices rose by an average of 1% over the month, compared to a 0.8% increase in April 2025. On an annual basis, food inflation reached 5.9%, up from the 4% recorded during the same period last year.
Non-food goods saw a price increase of 0.3% for the month and 5.2% year-on-year. This marks a deceleration from April last year, when these figures stood at 0.4% and 6.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, the cost of services grew by 0.4% over the month and 12% annually. This represents a sharp drop from April 2025, when service prices surged by 1% in a single month and 26.1% year-on-year.
In April, food items accounted for 9 out of the 10 goods with the highest price increases. Furthermore, 23 out of the top 30 products experiencing the steepest price hikes were foodstuffs.
Granulated sugar rose by 2.2% over the month (+2.1% year-on-year), live and chilled fish increased by 2% (+6.2%), vegetable oils ticked up by an average of 0.8% (+10.6%), and milk edged up by 0.4% (+5.6%).
Conversely, egg prices dropped by 3.6% in April, though they remain 16.7% more expensive than this time last year. Rice and broken rice fell by 1.1% over the month and 12.8% year-on-year. Poultry prices dipped by 1.2% to 1.3% monthly, but show an annual increase of 4.6% to 5.7%.
Among primary fruits and vegetables, lemons saw the largest monthly surge at 14.2%, followed by bell peppers at 10.3%—though pepper prices are still 4% lower than in April last year. Potatoes climbed 6.5% for the month and 18.9% annually, apples rose by 4.5% and 23.3%, and carrots edged up 3.2% monthly, despite a 10.4% decline year-on-year.
Monthly price drops were recorded for fresh cucumbers, which plummeted by 26.1% (-8.9% year-on-year), fresh herbs by 3.3% (-4.5%), onions by 2.7% (-21.5%), tomatoes by 2.4% (-7.7%), cabbage by 2.4% (-9.8%), and bananas by 1.3% (+3.9%).
Transportation
Average gasoline prices rose by 1.4% in April, marking an 11.2% annual increase. AI-92 gasoline went up by 1.6%, AI-95 by 0.9%, and premium AI-98 and AI-100 grades ticked up by 0.2%.
Propane prices fell by 2.8% over the month but remain up 16.7% year-on-year, with the regulated price ceiling capped at 7,000 soums per liter. Meanwhile, methane prices rose by 0.7% monthly and surged 27.9% annually.
Parking fees increased by 0.8% over the month and 11.8% year-on-year. Within passenger transit services, international airfares rose by 2.6% monthly (-7.9% year-on-year), and domestic flights climbed 2.3% (-13.1%). City bus fares increased by 1.6% (+16.4% annually), while long-distance train tickets rose by 1.4% (+13.6%).
In the logistics sector, ready-to-eat food delivery services became 0.8% more expensive over the month, yielding a 4.5% annual increase.
Other Sectors
In the housing and utilities sector, price hikes were isolated strictly to municipal waste management. Across the republic, waste collection fees rose by an average of 2.4% over the month, marking a 28% surge year-on-year.
Residential rental rates increased by 0.6% monthly and 2.5% annually. Conversely, market prices for coal dipped by 0.7%.
Among consumer services, the sharpest price spike was recorded in electronic payment processing fees, which climbed by 5% (categorized under "other financial services not elsewhere classified").
On a broader scale, price growth slowed for 235 goods and services in April compared to the previous month. This marks an improvement over March, when deceleration was observed in 166 items. Economists attribute this expanding stabilization to seasonal factors, particularly the start of the provincial harvest period.
Provincial Breakdown
On a provincial level, the highest monthly inflation rates were recorded in the Tashkent province at 0.8% and the Kashkadarya province at 0.7%. Meanwhile, the Republic of Karakalpakstan experienced the nation's steepest annual inflation rate at 7.4%.
