Uzbekistan on 0.233 score was ranked 90th to become low terrorism threat country according to the 2025 Global Terrorism Index of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).
The Global Terrorism Index provides a comprehensive summary of the key global trends and patterns in terrorism over the last 17 years. The report ranks 163 countries (99.7 per cent of the world’s population) according to the impact of terrorism. The indicators include the number of terrorist incidents, fatalities, injuries and hostages.
Among the Central Asian nations, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan ranked 100th with 0 score and were deemed as the countries with the lowest terrorism threat. Meanwhile, Tajikistan ranked 70th on 0.999 score.
Burkina Faso, Pakistan, and Syria are on top of the ranking with the highest levels of terrorist threat.
Overall, as highlighted in the report, terrorism remains a persistent global threat, and 2024 saw an expansion in the geography of terrorism.
The number of countries where at least one terrorist incident occurred increased from 58 to 66, marking the highest figure since 2018.
In 2024, for the first time in seven years, more countries experienced a deterioration in their security situation than an improvement: 45 countries saw an increase in terrorism threats, while only 34 countries recorded improvements.
