Three young boys have tragically drowned in the Zarafshan River in Navoiy province, the press service of the Navoiy Province Emergency Situations Department (ESD) reported.

According to officials, four youths from the Katta Machit neighborhood in the Karmana district went swimming in the Zarafshan River around noon on July 8. Three of them were swept away and drowned while in the water.

"Search and rescue operations were launched immediately, utilizing emergency personnel, specialized equipment, and motorized rubber boats from both the Bukhara and Navoiy province ESD offices. On July 10, the bodies of the three minors were recovered at various distances from the scene of the incident," the department stated.

The victims were identified as J.S., 18, J.S., 14, and O.T., 16. Reports indicate that two of the boys were brothers.

This incident follows another recent tragedy in the province's Navbahor district, where two 15-year-old teenagers died from an electric shock while trying to swim in a local canal.
