Authorities are weighing the temporary suspension of public kindergartens across the country due to the ongoing extreme heatwave, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education said.
To address the situation, the ministry has established close coordination with local regional administrations (khokimyats), the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare, and Uzhydromet.
Officials noted that a blanket, nationwide closure will not be implemented. Instead, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, depending entirely on the local weather conditions and public health situation in each specific region.
"The situation in every province is being evaluated individually. If deemed necessary, the operations of preschools will be temporarily suspended," the ministry stated.
This development follows the recent temporary closure of both public and private kindergartens in Karakalpakstan due to the anomalous heat. In that instance, the closures were enacted by local administrations based on formal recommendations from the Sanitary-Epidemiological Service.
