Assalomu alaykum! On behalf of the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent, and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt congratulations to the people of Uzbekistan on their national holiday — the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Over the years since gaining independence, Uzbekistan has achieved remarkable progress and secured a well-deserved place on the world stage.

I recall with great pleasure the public diplomacy events the Romanian Embassy in Tashkent has held over the years to mark Uzbekistan's Independence Day. Ahead of the country's 32nd anniversary of independence, I recorded a congratulatory video message from the Pulatkhan plateau, at an altitude of 2,823 meters. For the 31st anniversary, I climbed Hazrat Sultan peak, which stands at 4,083 meters, in the Kashkadarya region. And ahead of Uzbekistan's 30th anniversary of independence, I made the ascent of Greater Chimgan, at 3,309 meters. These events, held in different corners of Uzbekistan, were meant as expressions of respect, friendship, and admiration for the beauty and spirit of this remarkable country. I am delighted that these symbolic moments have resonated with so many people across Uzbekistan.

It is a great honor for me to be among those awarded the commemorative medal "35th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan," established by presidential decree. I regard this honor as a mark of profound trust and as motivation to continue working productively. I would like to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan for creating favorable conditions for the successful fulfillment of my mandate. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to carry out my professional duties in this beautiful country. During my time here, I have come to understand that Uzbekistan's greatest wealth lies not in natural resources such as gold or cotton, but in its remarkable people.

Cooperation between Romania and Uzbekistan continues to develop successfully across all fields. The two countries maintain an active political and diplomatic dialogue built on trust and mutual respect. On October 6, 2025, Romania and Uzbekistan marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. I am pleased to note that data published by the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan show a significant increase in trade turnover between Romania and Uzbekistan in recent years. Strengthening ties with Uzbekistan remains among Romania's priority interests in Central Asia, and I look to the future with great optimism.

I congratulate all citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Independence Day, and wish them peace, prosperity, good health, and success in achieving all their noble aspirations.
