A new intercity electric train service officially launched today, September 7, 2026, connecting Tashkent with the scenic Parkent district, the press service of Uzbekistan Railways said in a statement.
The new commuter train accommodates up to 1,154 passengers, featuring 586 seats, and completes the journey in 50 minutes. One-way tickets are priced at 10,000 soums for adults and 6,500 soums for children under the as-of age of 10.
Construction on the Baitkurgan–Parkent railway line began in January 2025, executed by Uzbekistan Railways specialists in accordance with the January 27, 2025 presidential decree. The extensive infrastructure project features a 24-kilometer electrified rail line, three reinforced concrete bridges, one highway overpass, 76 water drainage structures, and 16 rail-road crossings. Additionally, a brand-new, 50-seat Parkent railway station was built to service the route.
Uzbekistan Railways emphasized that opening this major transit link is expected to transform the Parkent district into a prominent tourist hub. The connection aims to generate new employment opportunities for local communities while significantly boosting the nation’s growing tourism sector.
