Russian Gazprom has increased its natural gas supplies to Central Asian countries by nearly 70 percent since the start of 2026, the company's chief executive, Alexei Miller, said, according to Interfax.
"We've also achieved strong results in Central Asia this year. We increased supply volumes to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan by nearly 70 percent," Miller said at an event marking Oil and Gas Industry Workers' Day.
Gas is delivered to Uzbekistan via the Central Asia–Center pipeline system. In 2025, Gazprom supplied the country with 6.48 billion cubic meters of gas, up 15 percent from 2024.
Kyrgyzstan currently consumes close to 500 million cubic meters of gas per year. Gazprom has signed long-term contracts running through 2040 to supply natural gas to the country's TPP-2 and Bishkekselmash thermal power plants. In Kazakhstan, Gazprom supplies gas to consumers in the West Kazakhstan, Kostanay and Aktobe provinces.
