Traffic police in the Yashnabad district intercepted a Chevrolet Damas microvan on Ohangaron Street on September 4, discovering 25 kindergarten children crammed inside the vehicle, according to the Tashkent City Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau.
A routine document check revealed that the driver did not hold a valid driver's license. Investigators subsequently found that he had previously been stripped of his driving privileges by a court order following a drunk driving conviction.
In his statement to authorities, the driver explained he was transporting the children from kindergartens located on Alieva Street to the Olmos neighborhood. He expressed regret for his actions and offered an apology to both the children's parents and the preschool staff.
Law enforcement officers processed the necessary citations at the scene and impounded the vehicle.
The incident follows a similar, even more severe case documented earlier in the Andijan region, where a driver was caught transporting 58 children in a single vehicle.
