Uzbekistan has secured a place among the world's top five destinations for solo travelers in the Solo Travel Index 2026, a ranking compiled by international travel platform Much Better Adventures. The news agency Dunyo reported the ranking, citing Kyiv Diplomatic magazine.
To compile the index, experts evaluated 26 countries against a range of criteria, including booking trends, traveler reviews, safety levels, visa requirements and food costs.
As a result, Uzbekistan ranked alongside well-established tourist destinations such as Italy, Japan and Portugal.
The ranking's authors also noted growing interest among American travelers following the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for U.S. citizens.
The country's main tourism draws were cited as its rich historical and cultural heritage, diverse landscapes and developing tourism infrastructure.
For solo travelers specifically, the index recommends hiking routes through the Nuratau Mountains, overnight stays in traditional yurts, and a trip across the Kyzylkum Desert to Lake Aydarkul.
The architectural and cultural heritage of Samarkand, Bukhara and other ancient cities tied to the history of the Great Silk Road also received special mention.
Uzbekistan stands out as well for its relatively affordable travel costs. The country previously appeared on Condé Nast Traveler's list of the world's most budget-friendly destinations.
