Plans are underway to launch regular cargo flights between Tashkent and Nanjing, China, following talks between Uzbekistan Airports JSC and Jiangxi International Cargo Airlines and Beijing Capital Airlines.
Under the proposed plan, flights would operate three times a week starting October 12, 2026, using Airbus A330 freighters to carry cargo in both directions.
Cross-border e-commerce equipment and goods are expected to make up the bulk of the cargo. The parties also discussed commercial and operational matters tied to launching the new route, including airport, ground-handling and warehousing services, aircraft refueling arrangements, infrastructure preparation, and staff training.
Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, is a major historical, industrial and logistics hub in eastern China. The city sits on the Yangtze River, roughly 300 kilometers from Shanghai.
The announcement follows an August 20 update from the Ministry of Transport confirming the successful deployment of the E-Permit electronic permit system for international road freight with Georgia.
Under the new system, "bilateral," "transit," and "to/from third country" permits are now issued to national carriers exclusively in electronic form based on their applications, replacing the paper-based quota permits previously in use.
