Cyril Gout, the French Interior Ministry's representative, has begun his assignment in Tashkent, the Uzbek Interior Ministry's press service reported.
To mark the occasion, a meeting was held on September 17 with the leadership of the Interior Ministry's International Cooperation Department.
At the meeting, Gout said France's Interior Ministry had appointed him to coordinate cooperation with law enforcement agencies across Central Asian countries.
He also noted that basing his work in Tashkent would play an important role in further developing law enforcement cooperation between France and Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the two sides discussed taking cooperation between their interior ministries to a new level, including through staff training, the exchange of expertise, and the organization of high-level mutual visits.
Both parties agreed to work together to accelerate cooperation and strengthen existing ties.
At the close of the meeting, the leadership of the Interior Ministry's International Cooperation Department wished Gout success in his new role.
