Energy audits have begun in apartment buildings in Tashkent with the participation of World Bank experts, the Tashkent city administration's press service said.
Work began on July 29 with the World Bank to improve the energy efficiency of apartment buildings in the capital, reduce heat losses and provide residents with a stable, good-quality heat supply. After targeted surveys led by O. Muminov, Tashkent's deputy mayor for housing and utilities, officials selected buildings that were not heated to the required standards during the last heating season.
From Sept. 21, comprehensive energy audits will be carried out in those buildings with World Bank support. The audits will examine each building's technical and energy condition, sources of heat loss, exterior walls, roofs, basements, doors and windows, internal heating systems, and the efficiency of heat use.
The foreign experts will also take the necessary instrument measurements to identify the main causes of heat loss in each building and develop technical solutions to address them.
The audit results will be used to develop a methodology for efficiently heating apartment buildings in Tashkent. It will set uniform approaches based on each building's technical condition, energy efficiency, level of heat loss and other technical indicators.
"The methodology will provide a basis for assessing the energy efficiency of Tashkent's apartment buildings, identifying those that need modernization, reducing heat losses, implementing energy-saving solutions, and setting targeted measures for the rational use of electricity and natural gas," the city administration said.
An energy audit involves collecting, processing and analyzing reliable data on fuel and energy consumption and efficiency indicators, and drawing conclusions from them.
The procedure for energy audits of fuel and energy consumers, as well as of buildings and structures, was approved by a government resolution in 2024.
