President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the presidential press service said. At the beginning of the meeting, the FIFA chief commended Uzbekistan’s recent football achievements.
The central topic of discussion was the U20 World Cup, which Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are slated to host.
Both parties reportedly highlighted their fruitful collaboration with FIFA in expanding football outreach programs, particularly for youth. They also reviewed avenues to deepen this partnership, focusing on transforming football administration, uncovering young talent, and elevating international training standards for coaches, referees, executives, sports doctors, and technical specialists.
Furthermore, Mirziyoyev and Infantino discussed bringing major FIFA tournaments and events to Uzbekistan, alongside expediting the opening of a regional FIFA office in Tashkent.
