Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have signed a bilateral military cooperation plan for 2027 during a meeting of their defense ministers. The sides discussed military cooperation, military education and the development of their armed forces.

A delegation led by Uzbek Defense Minister Lieutenant General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov met Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov during a working visit to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan's Defense Ministry said.

The talks stressed that military ties between the two countries are built on friendly and fraternal relations. The sides noted the importance of cooperation in developing and strengthening both countries' armed forces.

The ministers exchanged views on cooperation in military affairs and military education, as well as on other defense-related issues.

The 2027 military cooperation plan was signed by the two defense ministries at the end of the meeting. The statement did not give details of the specific activities it envisages.
