President Shavkat Mirziyoyev offered his wishes on the Teachers Day marked on October 1. In his message, he called raising the young generation "the most important and noble profession in the world" and described knowledge, education, upbringing and culture as "an inexhaustible source of strength" for New Uzbekistan, its achievements and its national character.
"A school is like a garden of the future, which makes a teacher a gardener who patiently nurtures seedlings of hope, a wellspring of kindness and care, a beacon of enlightenment. That is why we will never tire of honoring and valuing the work of those in such a responsible field," the president said.
Mirziyoyev said the results of education reforms are "among our most impressive achievements today." Many problems that existed a decade ago have been resolved, obstacles to progress have been overcome, the education sector is developing rapidly and teaching is becoming an ever more respected profession, the message said.
"The next decade will be an era of national progress for us, and we have set ourselves even higher goals," the head of state said.
"Going forward, we will organize work in a new way in families, mahallas, schools, technical colleges and universities to instill in children a love of their homeland, pride in it, a sense of shared responsibility for its future and respect for our history and culture. In doing so, we must strictly meet the demands of these challenging times. The call that 'raising the young generation is a sacred duty and a task for all of society' must resonate in every heart and become the measure and meaning of our daily lives," the president said.
He expressed confidence that teachers and mentors, who "fully understand how important it is to shape Uzbekistan's youth into a forward-looking generation inspired by the noble idea of 'For the homeland, for the nation and the people,'" will take an active part in these efforts, drawing on "their extensive knowledge and rich experience, talent and skill."
