Uzbekistan has proposed setting up a one-stop-shop center for people leaving to work in Russia, the Migration Agency said.

The Agency Director Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmonov met Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Alexei Yerkhov, the agency said. The talks covered ways to improve the mechanisms for directing candidates who want to work in Russia into jobs in an organized way, and for carrying out the main pre-departure procedures inside Uzbekistan.

The center, to be run on a "one-stop shop" principle, is expected to handle pre-departure testing, medical examinations, biometric registration and fingerprinting, and document checks.

"The main goal is to ensure that those planning to work in Russia know exactly where, at which company and under what conditions they will work, complete the necessary documents and procedures in advance, and travel to work by a legal and transparent route, based on a specific employer's request," the agency said in its statement.

The sides also raised the idea of organizing Russian language exams in the provinces, to cut the time and cost of traveling to Tashkent to sit them. The necessary infrastructure has been prepared in four provinces.
