President Mirziyoyev has merged the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation into a single Ministry of Education and Science by decree, the presidential spokesman Sherzod Asadov announced the move.
The reform aims to build a unified system of education, upbringing and science in line with modern demands, improve the quality and efficiency of education, and take human capital development to a new level, according to the announcement.
"The reform also seeks to ensure continuity and coherence across all types of education, to implement a single, effective management system covering every stage from preschool to higher education as well as research activity, and to strengthen its accountability to the public," the statement said.
