Uzbekistan ranked 71st among 100 countries in the 2026 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the world’s most powerful countries, placing it in the top 80, according to the U.S.-based World Population Review.

Uzbekistan finished ahead of Armenia (80th), Uruguay (82nd), Jordan (83rd) and Georgia (92nd). Norway placed 72nd.

Kazakhstan led Central Asian countries at 39th. Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were not included in the updated 2026 ranking.

China was named the most powerful and influential country, followed by the United States and India, according to the compilers. Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Britain, Mexico and Italy completed the top 10.

Seychelles, Iraq, Panama, Bahrain, Albania, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Lebanon and Cyprus took the bottom places.

Background: The ranking’s “power index” is calculated from six criteria: leadership, economic power, political influence, geopolitical presence, military power and foreign trade potential. Each is scored on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 the highest, and the results are averaged into a single value.
