Families of children harmed by the medicines Doc-1 Max and Ambronol will receive full compensation, the Health Ministry said.

The Compulsory Enforcement Bureau was to recover 82 billion soums for 90 victims under Tashkent City Criminal Court enforcement documents, the ministry said. But the sale of the culprits’ seized property ran past the deadline, and only 16.8 billion soums, or 20%, has been paid.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered the payments speeded up, and 65.2 billion soums were allocated from the state budget. So far 80 billion soums have been paid to 88 victims, including 72.2 billion soums to families of 72 children who died and 7.8 billion soums to families of 16 children who have been or are being treated.

The remaining 2 billion soums will be paid to the families of two other children once technical issues with bank cards are resolved, the ministry said.

“The 65.2 billion soums allocated from the budget will be returned to the national budget from proceeds of the sale of the culprits’ property and from funds recovered from them,” the ministry said in a statement.

It said officials and doctors at national medical centers are checking on the families and providing additional medical and psychological help to the children.

Background: It was reported earlier that compensation had been paid to parents of children who died or became disabled after taking the medicines.
