A court has sentenced a man to life in prison for setting fire to a woman and her four minor children in Guzar district, killing two of the children, the press service of the province’s courts said.
The Kamashi district criminal court found the defendant, identified only as S.T., guilty under Part 2 of Article 97 of the Criminal Code (Premeditated homicide), Articles 25 and 97, and Part 2 of Article 173 (Deliberate destruction of or damage to property).
The attack took place on the night of May 15, 2026. S.T. went to the victim’s home, quarreled with her, then returned with gasoline in a 5-liter plastic container and doused the woman and her children before setting them alight, the press service said.
The woman and two of her children survived. A 6-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl died of their burns.
At the trial, the woman asked the court for the maximum sentence.
“My two children will never come back. If you go easy on him, there will be more like him. I am asking you to give the maximum sentence,” she said.
