The government has imposed a three-month ban on exports of certain petrochemical products from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), it said in a statement.

The ban covers coal-tar and petroleum benzene, toluene, orthoxylene, paraxylene and phenol.

“The decision is aimed at maintaining a stable supply of raw materials to Russian industrial enterprises,” the government said.

The ban does not apply to international transit, humanitarian aid or supplies to Russian organizations on the Svalbard archipelago, the government said.

The substances are used to make paints and coatings in machine building, food packaging, insulation materials for cable products and in the medical industry.
