Police and the State Security Service officers have uncovered a drug laboratory in a rented apartment in Tashkent’s Chilanzar district, the State Security Service said.

Police seized a total of 6 kg of drugs, equivalent to 19,250 doses, the Interior Ministry said.

The lab was found after police detained a 24-year-old Tashkent resident in the Yashnabad district. He worked as a dead-drop courier for an online drug shop, the ministry said. He was carrying 74 grams of hashish oil split into 58 packets.

Investigators said the courier had received the drugs from a storekeeper at the shop, who had set up the laboratory in an apartment in the Dombrabad mahalla.

A search of the apartment turned up scales, a mixer, a hair dryer, syringes, about 1,000 empty transparent bags and the same number of empty vials, along with drugs packed in zip-lock bags.

Officers seized 3.5 kg of hashish oil, 600 grams of hashish and 200 grams of marijuana. They also found 361 packets holding 350 grams of hashish oil, 1.5 kg of cookies and four packs of marmalade containing the substance.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainees under Article 276-1 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which covers Organizing an illegal drug laboratory, and clause “a” of Part 6 of Article 273, which covers the Production, storage and sale of drugs in large quantities.
