A new senior management of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Uzbekistan has been selected at the committee’s Jan 6 General Assembly in Tashkent.

The chairman of UzbekNefteGaz, Alisher Sultanov has been elected as the new Chairman of the NOC.

His new deputies are the CEO of Uzbekistan Airways, Valery Tyan, Salim Abduvaliev Farhod Turdiev, and the Vice Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee Umid Ahmatdzhanov. Oybek Kasimov has been re-elected as Secretary General of the NOC for the new Olympic cycle.

The Assembly was attended by the Prime Minister, Abdulla Aripov, Deputy prime ministers Adham Ikramov and Tanzilya Narbayeva and about 140 delegates from the country's sports federations.

The attendees heard the report on the work of the National Olympic Committee during the last Olympic cycle, 2013-2016 which was assessed as "satisfactory". The Assembly delegates warmly thanked the outgoing Chairman, Mirabror Usmanov, for his great contribution to the development of sports and Olympic movement in the country.
