Deputy PM/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khojaev held talks with Iran's Oil Minister Javad Avji in Samarkand on SUnday.

The heads of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization signed the final Samarkand Declaration. The Declaration says that in the modern world the system of international challenges and threats is becoming more complex, “a dangerous degradation of the state of affairs in the world is observed”, existing local conflicts and crises were aggravating and new ones are emerging.

Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced an advanced entrepreneurship training program for 600 rural women. This initiative is part of a $3.4 million Women’s Economic Empowerment program that supports rural women in Uzbekistan by facilitating their engagement in the workforce as entrepreneurs and skilled employees. Training will begin on September 26, 2022.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan "due to the current situation" will not attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand, Armenpress reported.

The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan and the State Committee for Development and Reforms of China on September 14 in Samarkand signed a tripartite agreement on cooperation on the construction project of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway. From September 5-15, the U.S. government supported an artifact conservation workshop, “C5 Cultural Training Partnership,” at the Uzbekistan State Museum of History in Tashkent.  The Director of Center for Cultural Heritage Preservation, Gil Stein, and instructors Fabio Colombo, Susanne Gänsicke, and Alison Whyte from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago joined eight conservators from the national museums of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, and 12 conservators from different museums in Uzbekistan for the workshop. 

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping held talks today at the Congress Center of the International Tourist Center "The Great Silk Road" in Samarkand, the presidential press service said.

On September 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a Resolution improving the procedure for coordinating inspection of businesses. The Resolution says that it was adopted as a result of an open dialogue between the head of state and business leaders on August 22.

At the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Jeddah was held a meeting with Mujahid Khan Abrar Khan, the CEO of Vision Development Company in Jeddah, in order to increase the volume of exports of Uzbek goods, Dunyo reported.

Today, Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Rosemary DiCarlo, who arrived to attend the Samarkand SCO summit.

Uzbekistan will ban the import of low energy efficiency household appliances. This is provided for by the September 9 presidential Decree.

The Decree amends the 2019 August 22 presidential decree, which prohibits the import into the territory of Uzbekistan of used generating equipment, power step-down transformers, electric motors, as well as energy-consuming equipment of energy efficiency category D from September 1, 2019. С 1 January 2022, the import of energy-intensive household appliances of efficiency category D is prohibited.
